Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage

The Three Peaks nature park (Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage) comprises an area of over 11,000 hectares across the parishes of San Candido, Sesto and Dobbiaco. The natural park is situated in the north-eastern corner of the Dolomites and is framed by the Val Pusteria in the North, the Sesto valley in the East, the country border to Belluno in the South and the Val di Landro in the West.

The nature park features stunning landscapes and Dolomite peaks, in particular the world famous Three Peaks. From the second half of the 19 century mountain climbers from far and near accomplished pioneering climbs. Today, Alpine climbers from all over the world display their skills on the vertical walls of this mountain range.

Since 2009 the Three Peaks nature park has been part of the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage and belongs to the European network of nature reserves Natura 2000, which focuses on protecting the habitats of wild animals and plants.

In the nature park house you can find information on the natural and cultural landscapes of the Three Peaks nature park, the geology of the Sesto Dolomites, the events during the war at the Dolomites front, the beginnings of alpine sport and the development of tourism in the Alta Pusteria. The adventure workshop allows younger visitors a playful access to nature.
