Dobbiaco is situated at the entrance to the romantically wild Val di Landro. The town is famous for its cultural highlights, in particular the Gustav Mahler Music Weeks. In the winter the Tour de Ski comes to Dobbiaco. The town is also venue for other cross country skiing competitions.

In the village centre you find Herbst castle, Casa Englös, the Red Tower and a baroque parish church. There are also very pleasant cafés and restaurants and owner run shops.

At the end of the 19, beginning of the 20 century European nobility and jet set spent their holidays in the Grand Hotel. Today the impressive building houses a culture and congress center, a concert hall for up to 460 people, the nature park house and more.
