Arm bath
Arm bath
Both arms are dipped into the water up the middle of the upper arm. Stay like this until you can feel a reaction (tingling, a light reddening of the skin).
more information
Do not dry your arms, brush off the water and warm yourself up thoroughly through movements. A cold arm bath is refreshing, strengthens the circulation and calms restless hearts.
Face bath
Face bath
Put your face under water, preferably with your eyes open. After a few seconds, lift your head up again and wipe off the water.
more information
A face bath is refreshing and encourages the blood flow through the face. This beauty treatment also strengthens the immune system and protects against colds.
Water treading
Water treading
It is important that your feet and legs are warm before you begin this treatment. You should avoid applications immediately before and after food.
more information
Move forward and lift your legs out of the water, one after the other - wade like a stork. The duration of this application depends on your reaction (extreme cold or tingling) and must be stopped if you experience one of these symptoms.
Do not dry yourself after treading water, just brush off the water and ensure that you warm up again quickly and thoroughly. A very refreshing way of strengthening your immune system. Particular good for veins and therefore recommended for varicose veins.
Drinking pavilion
Drinking pavilion
People of all nations, cultures and faiths have considered water to be a heavenly blessing. As the fertilising and also the destructive forces of the water originate at its source, this is where people gathered to pray, to plead and to appease.
more information
The newly built drinking pavilion in the Kneipp facility in the Kurpark spa complex, which is fed by the well-known mineral spring Bagni Pian di Maia, could become such a magnet. The oligomineral water is said to aid with digestive problems, metabolic disorders, abdominal pains, nervous disposition and support of the respiratory organs. According to the oldest medical tract dating back to 1675, the water is said to contain saltpetre, vitriol and a “gold coated” substance. Water contains only a very small amount of minerals. Because of the low discharge the well is also fed by those springs that have already been used in the facility for many years. At the outlet of the spring the water flows over rock crystal from the Val Pusteria, thus considerably increasing the liveliness of the water. The open air inhalatorium and drinking pavilion were built with financial contributions from the European Regional Development Fund ERFE, Interreg IV Italy Austria, Project “Kneipp Alp” No. 2301.
Dew treading
Dew treading
In the meadow you find many healing plants, in particular dew cup. The leaves are folded in the shape of a cup and early in the morning, a shiny, crystal clear pearl of dew forms in its centre.
more information
Walk barefoot in the fresh dew for two to five minutes. Then put on warm socks and warm up with plenty of movement. Recommended for vascular disorders, headaches, high blood pressure, varicose veins.
Mud packs
Mud packs
Mud has anti-inflammatory properties and is highly absorbent. It can absorb toxins and pollutants. Applied to affected sites it furthers the blood flow. Tissue is activated and toxins are transported through the vascular system in the lower layers of the skin.
more information
Application: Apply a finger’s thickness to the skin. The pack remains in place until it has become warm and hard, generally approx. 1/2 to 1 hour. Then you can wash it off.

Applications: Cellulitis, skin impurities, inflammation of veins, inflammation of joints.
Barefoot path
Barefoot path
Sebastian Kneipp was particularly keen on walking barefoot. Take off your shoes and walk slowly, step by step, over the various sections of this nature trail.
more information
Walking barefoot strengthens the foot muscles. The “painful - pleasant” sensation in the foot stimulates the whole body and its organs.
Open air inhalatorium
Open air inhalatorium
The open air inhalatorium is the first of its kind in South Tyrol and Italy. With a concentration of 7 - 11% the sole runs over mountain pine and bundles of blackthorn (the “thorn house”), absorbing their essential oils. The air is soothing for the respiratory tract.
more information
The trickling sole enriches the air near the “thorn house” with saline, thus bringing a touch of “sea air” into the mountains. Like sea air, this has a positive effect on people allergic to pollen and those suffering with asthma. Breathing in the salty air has an expectorant effect, soothes irritations, anti-inflammatory effects and prevents and aids healing of chronic bronchitis and sinusitis. This “natural medical miracle” is also said to reduce fatigue and the effects of cardiovascular problems. It helps you to feel relaxed and at peace. It also has an extremely beneficial effect on the vegetative nervous system. Many doctors and alternative practitioners therefore recommend prolonged stays at the seaside or in spas, which have made use of the effects of the “thorn houses”. For an optimum effect it is recommended to visit the open air inhalatorium several times a week and to inhale for 30 minutes each time.
